EOM for March

1. Easter Sunday was quiet. Honey and I stayed home and rested.

2. Honey went with me to see my Dr. We changed my medication and it seems to be working ok. I was having some unusual depressive episodes. They seem to be better now. We'll see. Saw her twice this month.

3. MB's husband GC had a stroke. Very scary. It's in the same spot in his brain as it was the last time, only on the opposite side. His left side is currently paralizysed. Hopefully when the swelling recedes, he can regain some of his motor skills. He is mad as heck about being in the hospital so everyone now knows that he is still in there. He knows exactly what is going on and he can communicate. He has to go through physical therapy and then he can go home. MB says she's prepared to take care of him. God be with them both. SC back in the picture.

4. Spent the day with my sister, KG, my neice, ORG, and daughter TH. We had lunch and took tons of pictures and had a lot of fun. ORG is a not quite a year and is a doll.

5. Went to my 2nd Bunco. Only 12 women this time. I liked it. It was cozy and easier to get to know some of the women. It was a fun time and PD was the big winner of the night.

6. Went to the dentist and got an unexpected crown. Fortunately, only hurt for a day. Yey!

7. Mom and PD's birthday. Sad to say I didn't have any money so not easy to buy presents. Sent mom some flowers and spent a wonderful day at PD's. Mom seemed to be happy. I hope so cause it was her 75th. I think PD had a pretty good birthday. She got lots of presents and we had a fantastic dinner.

8. Went to Palm Springs for the day with the girls. PD, KM, ML, R, and me. R is from Myrtle Beach so she had never been to PS. It was a gorgeous day and because of the rain, the normally brown terrain was green. The mountains had tons of snow on them. We had lunch at Ruby's and did some people watching. Then we did a little shopping. No one really bought much. On the way up, we stopped at It's About Time Scrapbooks in Murrietta and we did a little shopping there. I don't think we could have asked for a better day.

9. Spent the night at PD's and did a lot of scrapbooking. We watched movies and J brought us some Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Couldn't get enough of that.

10. Spent a day at ML's scrapbooking with PD and KM. We had a wonderful BBQ'd chicken salad and the best cookies I've ever had in my life. It as a nice peaceful, cozy day.

11. Got word that ML's dear friend J passed away. Felt so bad for her. She took it hard but by the time we went to PS, she was in better spirits and on her way to healing.

I found this great article today. It's well worth reading especially if you're like me and want to lose some weight and stay healthy. I copied it to a word file and saved it in My Documents so that I could share it with family and friends.

Scrapbooking With MS Word

I'm one of those people who isn't real crazy about my own handwriting. When jounaling on my scrapbook pages, I often like to use MS Word. That also gives me the opportunity to make the words different sizes, fonts and colors. I recently discovered this Two Peas in a Bucket thread on creative ways to use MS Word in your scrapbooking. http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=361498

Peggy Sue Pugster

Here are some pictures of Peggy Sue Pugster. She's my constant. She brings me a lot of comfort. When I was 12, I had a Pug named Frankie. He was a darling and had some of the oddest behaviors. For example, he liked to sit high. He would sit on top of his dog house rather than be inside, even in the rain. He would sit on top of a mound of dirt while my dad was doing yard work. He would sit on top of chair rather than ever be on the floor.

Peggy likes to be high also, but not to such an extreme. Peggy's thing is to keep the other furry children away from me. I am hers and no one else is aloud the priviledge. She's very jealous of any attention I give to the others. Even Honey gets in the way sometimes. Fortunately she loves him too so she's more apt to want to be in the middle of a kiss or hug.
Peggy came to me through a terribly family tragedy. When my daughter's husband was killed in a car accident, his cousin gave her a 6-week old pug puppy in the hopes of easing her pain. Unfortunately, daughter was only 21 and had 2 babies. Having a puppy with 2 babies was just too difficult.
After having Frankie in my youth, I had always wanted another pug. I even cut a picture of a pug out of a magazine and put it on my refrigerator. It was there for years. Everyone knew I wanted a pug. When daughter asked me to babysit the little baby pug for a weekend, I leapt at the opportunity to cuddle and love with the little puglet. On the next Monday, she asked me how it went and I told her it was great...anytime...I'm available. She asked me if I would like to keep her and, well, there was no hesitation in my answer. Peggy Sue and I were meant to be together.
God works in wonderful ways.

Scrapbooking Room

I gave my craft room to my honey so that he could have an office/stuff room. So now we each have an office. I think I'm going to change my office to a office/scrapbooking room. I'm getting excited about it. I've already started bringing my scrapbooking stuff into my office and it's all over the floor. I can see that I have to eliminate some furniture and make room for cubbies, etc. I should take a picture of it prior to the change.

Today

Still playing with my blog...I guess that's a good sign. Can't wait until I actually have a picture to post. I've noticed that it's quite time consuming. I find that changing and adding elements, etc. to my own blog is one thing, but then I also find myself reading other blogs endlessly. At this point I'm still enjoying myself.

EOM February 2008

1. I took a great scrapbooking class with Designer, Candice McLean. It was a LOVE book and it was made with pure love and given to Honey on Valentine's Day. I enjoyed every minute of making it because it was for him.

2. Went to my first Bunco and had a blast. My Sister PD and friend KM were there and it was a kick in the pants. There were about 25 women and each brought something to eat. Well, you can imagine the heaven we were in. Very nice group of ladies.

3. My bff, MB had a tummy tuck. That was interesting because she had 2 tubes coming from her tummy to these little balls. I won't tell you what was collecting in the balls, but needless to say they had to be purged on a regular basis. She handled the surgery very well and was up and moving around within days. She had the tubes for a couple of weeks, but no problems with them. She looks awesome and is wearing a much smaller pant. It's a new MB! I'm so delighted for her.

4. Went to High School BFF, SC's house in Costa Mesa for a night. We went to a fashion show and had some fun. Enjoyed a great breakfast the next day at Mimi's. Tried to find a scrapbooking store, but no luck.

5. Spent the night with PD at KM's house and had a scrapbooking party. ML came over Saturday evening for some scrapbooking and dinner. She made a great shrimp thing and we all enjoyed. We were kind of low key so spent the whole day on Sunday, watching movies. It was nice.

6. Honey went on a shooting tournament in LV. He came in 9th overall, which is really good. He said said he had a great time. His poor body didn't fair so well though. He was in a lot of pain.

7. MB's birthday...we didn't celebrate as big as I would have liked, but we had a nice lunch and went to a movie and it was fun.

8. Took another scrapbooking class from Designer, Terina Matthews. It's an accordian book inside a box. I love it.

Still Blogging

I am still enjoying my blog. I'm putting in different categories and using it as an organize my brain/reminder tool. I'm sure it's best use will eventually become clear.

I am also using it to record things that other people write. I pray that I will always give credit where it's due. It's so nice to go back and read some of these inspirational quotes and ideas.

I suppose it would be great for lists.

EOM January 2008

One of the interesting things I'm discovering is that many people use blogging as a journal. Drawing on that idea and the Roundup idea, I thought I better remind myself of January.

Daughter and Son-in-law's papers went to the court for the divorce. Should be final on their 3rd wedding anniversary. How ironic!

Had a facial and massage at Boston's thanks to my Honey...It was pure love...pure heaven. Katherine gave me a relaxation massage and Mary gave me a cleansing facial with an eye mask and a pomegranite peel...hmmmm!

Wonderful Brunch with MB at Anthony's...our favorite place.

Back to slimming down at WW after doing the big holiday gain. Don't want to let that happen again. Must remind myself not to do that next year.

MIL broke her foot in December and seems to be on the mend. Had a birthday breakfast at the buffet. Gave her a garden angel.

MB went to Utah.

I took two classes at my new favorite scrapbook store in Poway. Cool Scrapbooking Stuff http://www.coolscrapbookingstuff.com/

The second one was Love by

Words To Live By

I found this great little brochure from Roger and Kathy Cawthon, "The Cancer Coaches" on http://www.thecancercrusade.com/ . These were some of the quotes I'd like to keep in my arsenal of inspiration.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face...You must do the thing you think you cannot do. - Eleanor Roosevelt

When you come to the edge of all the light you know and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly. -Author unknown

Roundup Questions and Task List

I found this Monthly Roundup idea on a wonderful website Scrapbook Lady blog . Following are the questions and the tasks, taken word for word, for ending a month. Katie calls it her Monthly Roundup. The idea is to write this info down each month in an effort to, not only remember the important events of your life, but to keep yourself and your layouts organized and dated properly. I really like the basic idea and plan to add to it for other areas of my life.
For further instructions check out the Scrapbook Lady blog .

What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month?
What special days did I celebrate and how?
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family?
What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try this month?
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
What were this month's disappointments?
What were my accomplishments this month?
Anything else noteworthy to record?

Then do some (or all) of the following tasks to keep you organized and ready to scrap (and enjoy!) your memories. I don't do every task each month, but this is a good checklist for me to reference to be sure I am keeping things in order.

Pictures & layouts:
Back up all digital pictures and layouts to a cd
Print out any digital layouts created during the month and put them in albums.
Uploaded all digital pictures to 2 different sites. ( I use Sony Image Station & Costco photo center)
Send email links to online photo albums to your family or friends who might enjoy them or send a picture cd, or picture attachments. Share your memories!
Get your pictures printed out and put into simple photo sleeve albums.
If you use film, be sure you get all your pictures developed and file your negatives in a safe place. If possible, I would suggest you get a picture cd along with your developing.
Put finished paper scrapbook layouts in sheet protectors and albums to enjoy.

For bloggers - print out my blog entries to keep in a binder. My blog(s) really are like a journal and I was thinking that it would be nice to have hard copy to keep. I know some people back up their blog files which is probably a good idea. I copy and paste each entry into a word document, label the document with the month and year and then print it all at once.Scrapbooking Supplies:

For digital scrappers - download, unzip, and file all kits & fonts purchased. Save a preview image of each kit and keep it in a separate file for easy browsing. Back up all new purchases to cd or dvd in case of computer crash or to maximize your hard drive space.

For paper scrappers:
Put away any new purchases. Do you still have stuff in sacks sitting around? I know some of you do! Put it away in an organized system.

For all scrappers:
Look through what you have purchased recently and decide what you want to use. At the first of the month set some goals for scrapping (hint – use this same list of ideas as a goal sheet for the next month)
Sort through old supplies that no longer appeal to you. Donate them to a friend who can use them or a charity. My older supplies go to my daughter who happily uses them to create many fun projects. I have also donated some to charity.
Look through what supplies you did use during the month and think about what it is about them that appealed to you. This will help you make smarter purchases in the future.
Clean up your area! Whether that is getting your computer in tip top shape, or clearing off the piles on a table where you can sit and work.

Learning How To Blog

I took a scrapbooking class last night and my very cool teacher, Terina Matthews gave me her Blog address. I was so inspired by it that I thought I would do my own Blog. I remember when I was first introduced to MySpace and I was so intrigued by it that I set up my page and played with it for a month or more. Now I seldom ever visit it. I hope that this won't be the same thing. Either way, I figure I've attempted to teach myself something new and that's "a good thing!"
